Continuity shots

Shot Reverse Shot
One character is shown looking at another character is shown looking at another character and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. As the characters are shown facing in opposite directions they assume they are looking at each other.

180 degree rule
The camera on one side and the characters/actors on the other side. This states that two characters in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other.

Match on action
A match on action shot means that when something happens in a shot and there is a cut the same piece of acting needs to go on to make the shot continuous. The background music in the film will be continuous with no jumping during the footage.

Thriller Brainstorm

This brainstorm shows the major parts in a thriller film. The opening is one of the main aspects of a thriller film as it introduces the characters and gives the genre. The main elements are story/characters, mood/atmosphere and mis-en-scene. The points coming off the brainstorm are how to create each of these.
